Internet radio
Touch any city and hear a local station through the RadioBrowser community directory. Keeps playing in the background while you explore.
Touch a place and hear it. Then switch on the networks you normally can't see: LoRaWAN gateways, Meshtastic and MeshCore mesh nodes, and amateur-radio APRS stations, all plotted on the same globe as the aircraft and cameras.

One category in the Layers panel, five very different networks. Turn on the ones you care about and tap any pin for the details its operators publish.
Touch any city and hear a local station through the RadioBrowser community directory. Keeps playing in the background while you explore.
Public police, fire, EMS, marine and aviation scanner streams where they're published, and you can add your own stream URL to the list.
Publicly listed gateways from Packet Broker. Tap one for its operator, whether it's community or commercial, its EUI, antennas, placement, altitude and when it was last seen.
Nodes that owners have shared to the Meshtastic community map, with role and last report. A quick way to see whether there's a mesh near you.
Nodes published to the official MeshCore map, shown alongside Meshtastic so you can compare the two networks in one place.
Amateur-radio APRS stations near the map, received through APRS-IS. Callsign, symbol and last position, read-only.
PlanetEar reads the public maps and directories each community already publishes. It never transmits, and it doesn't scan the airwaves itself.
| What | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Internet radio | RadioBrowser (radio-browser.info) | Free, community-run station directory. No key. |
| Scanner feeds | RadioBrowser + your own URLs | Public streams where operators publish them; add any stream address yourself. |
| LoRaWAN gateways | Packet Broker | Publicly listed gateways. Reporting is incomplete; not a coverage or reachability map. |
| Meshtastic nodes | Meshtastic community map | Opt-in reports from node owners. Not a live scan and not every node. |
| MeshCore nodes | MeshCore official map | Opt-in reports. A listing is not proof of a reachable radio link. |
| APRS stations | APRS-IS | Receive-only. Positions as reported by the amateur-radio network. |
A pin means someone published that node or gateway to a public map. It doesn't mean you can reach it from where you're standing. Treat the mesh and LoRaWAN layers as a directory, not a signal-strength survey.
No. Everything here comes over the internet from public directories and maps, so a phone, iPad or Mac is all you need. If you do own a Meshtastic or MeshCore node, it's a handy way to see who else is around.
No. It's receive-only and listing-only. It plays internet audio streams and reads public maps. It never keys a transmitter and it doesn't scan radio frequencies itself.
No, and nothing could be. Packet Broker lists gateways whose operators chose to publish them, roughly 30,000 worldwide, which is a fraction of what's deployed. It shows where the network is thick, not whether a device will connect.
Only nodes shared to the community map appear, and reports can be hours or days old. If you want yours visible, opt in on the Meshtastic map; PlanetEar will pick it up on its next refresh.
Yes. Paste any public stream URL into the radio layer and it joins the list, so a local scanner you already listen to can live on the globe.
Yes. Radio and scanner audio continues in the background, with the usual lock-screen controls.
